The Health Equity Circle (HEC) is an interdisciplinary organization that brings health students together to learn about and address health equity issues using the tools of community organizing.
There are three HEC chapters in Seattle, Spokane and Portland connecting students from UW, EWU, WSU, Gonzaga, PSU and OHSU. The HEC has advanced health equity in a diverse range of campaigns from supporting tent city to early childhood development funding and paid sick leave.
The HEC has created and runs classes in "community organizing for health equity" at each of its branch chapters.
Developing from the student HEC organizations there are now programs at the Swedish Cherry Hill and OHSU family medicine residencies and clinic organizing programs in Portland and Seattle.
